Comparison of Depressed and Borderline Personality Disorder Suicide Attempters

This study examines the risk factors for suicidal behavior in people diagnosed with major depression, people diagnosed with borderline personality disorder, and people diagnosed with both. This is not a treatment study. Participants are paid $100 for their involvement in the study.

Eligibility:

bullet

Ages 18 to 60

bullet

Falls into one of the following categories:

bullet

meets criteria for Borderline Personality Disorder and has made at least one suicide attempt

bullet

meets criteria for Borderline Personality Disorder , has never attempted suicide, and is not currently depressed

bullet

meets criteria for a current Major Depressive Episode, has made at least one suicide attempt, and does not meet criteria for any personality disorder

bullet

Able and willing to give informed consent
