Environment of Care Committee: 
Duties of the Chairperson


Take appropriate measures to carry out the mandate of the Governing Body in the conduct of the Environment of Care Program

  • Schedule and convene Committee meetings in an orderly and efficient manner
    • Ensure staff and other resources are available for purpose
      • Appoint and supervise the recording secretary
        • Prepare minutes
        • Other logistical duties
  • Meet periodically with the Chief Safety & Security Officer to review ongoing safety / security-related matters.
  • Meet with the Chief Safety & Security Officer and the Recording Secretary:
    • Set the agenda for meetings
    • Collect required materials
    • Ensure follow-up and resolution of issues
  • Report regularly to the Governing Body and to the Medical Staff regarding the EOC Program
    • Prepare and present minutes and reports of regular Committee meetings
    • Prepare and present annual reviews of the EOC Program
    • Make special presentations as situations may require
  • Work with the Chief Safety & Security Officer and the Director of Education and Training to
    • Determine safety training needs
    • Organize safety training programs
  • Represent the Committee in matters related to construction and plant utility issues
    • Meet regularly with the Deputy Director for Administration and with the Plant Superintendent to discuss
      •  planned and ongoing construction projects
      • utility management concerns
  • Take emergency actions as needed to ensure the safety and security of people and property.
