Environment of Care:
Mission Statement

The Institute's Environment of Care Program exists to foster a safe, accessible, effective and efficient environment within which

  • Patients may receive high-quality treatment

  • Institute staff may pursue their missions of clinical care, biomedical research, and education in the field of mental illness

  • Community members, visitors and volunteers may participate

The Program covers staff activities, as well as maintenance & supervision of the Institute's buildings, utilities, grounds, driveways, vehicles and equipment.

The Institute promulgates, disseminates, enforces and reviews relevant policies and procedures to be followed by all staff, regardless of funding source. The Governing Body mandates that the Environment of Care Committee will be responsible for all aspects of the Institute's Safe and Therapeutic Environment Plan. It specifically authorizes the Committee Chairperson to lead this effort, and to take actions as may be necessary to protect lives and property. Within its budget, the Administration provides adequate staff and financial resources to support the Program.

Following a long tradition of advancement, the Institute proudly occupied it's modern, code-compliant facilities in mid-1998. Designed by experienced healthcare architects in consultation with Institute staff, and community and agency representatives, it provides safe, spacious and comfortable facilities for all.

We look forward to a time of unprecedented opportunity for progress in our chosen mission.
