Grounds

The Institute's Grounds Department maintains all outside areas in a safe and orderly manner. Staff are properly trained and familiar with outdoor safety practices.

Special attention is paid to:

  • Egress routes 
  • Patient recreational areas
    • free of hazards
    • lawns and plantings well-maintained
    • outdoor furniture clean and in good repair
    • drinking fountains sanitary and properly functioning
  • Sidewalks, plazas and driveways
    • free of trash or obstructions
    • free of snow and ice
    • paved surfaces free of tripping hazards

Smoking is limited to outdoor areas away from entrances. Grounds Department staff will maintain these designated areas and receptacles in good condition.

Incidents, accidents or events/conditions which may constitute a risk to the Environment of Care will be reportedly promptly for remedial action and for review by the Environment of Care Committee.
